Message from the PresidentDecember 21, 2007 Missouri JCI Senators: Merry Christmas to each and every one of you and every member in your family! My hope to each of you is for safe travels, surprises in your stockings, quality time with family and friends, good food, and memories that will never die in your hearts. I hope everyone has made plans for the Senate meeting at TanTarA Resort on January 19, 2008. We will have a few new Senators to welcome into our group at the Outstanding Young Missourians Banquet Saturday night, so let's turn out in a large number to welcome them. It's also ELECTIONS, and we need your vote. Elections will take place as normal, during our meeting on Saturday morning. We are also setting aside a little time on Saturday afternoon for a "Gift Exchange" and social time, kind of like we have done in the past during the Holiday Meeting/Party. So, start looking around for the unique gift to bring. More details will follow in the upcoming newsletter. Speaking of newsletters, the deadline for the next one is January 1 to Tim Vincent. Don't be late! If you get a chance visit the US JCI Senate National website (www.usjcisenate.org), please do and read President Jumper's article this month. It is the funniest I have ever seen Hilda write. What a ride the 2007 part of my term as your President has been. You are the reason that being your President is such an honor. Just as Jesus is said to be the "Reason for the Season" (I hope he is also the Reason for your life!), you the members of this great organization, are the reason for all we do. When I try to explain to those I meet from time to time that do not know or have never heard about the Senate, I always find myself explaining that we are a special family, a tight knit group of special people that enjoy helping other and that they (the other Senators) are the reason I am an active Senator. You are the reason I became a Senator. Looking up to those that guided me and mentored me as a Jaycee, you as Senators set the standard high. You are the reason I became Hospitality Chairman, to become a part of you and develop closer friendships with you. You are the reason I ran for office - what better way of repaying those that have gone before me then to try with the best of my abilities to maintain this organization to your expectations? You are the reason I am so thankful to be a Missouri JCI Senator; it's your friendships, love, and relationships that make it all special to me. So, thank you for being my reason and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
September 21, 2007 Greetings Missouri JCI Senators!!! What a great summer we have been having! I hope all is well in each of your homes as school has started and we turn our attention to Football! (Can't watch any more Cardinal Baseball, they're killing me.) Thank you to everyone that came out and helped work at the Jefferson City Jaycee Fair Food Booth and at the Food Booth at Strassenfest. You again proved to be awesome workers and both projects were a success because of you! We just returned from the National Fall Board Meeting in Springfield IL last weekend. We had a good time socializing and representing the Missouri JCI Senate. Even had a few that took the "Train", sounds like they had a blast! So, what's new, well we turned in 2,772 hours of RTF from 69 Senators for the first quarter!!! We renewed 94 of 97 members and added 4 new members to our roster, for a growth of +1. Welcome back to the Senate Jim Bass #11200, Bennie Ellerbee #28881, Jerry James # 18000 and Randall Glaser #57421 Coming up next weekend will be the Region VI Meeting in Fargo ND. We will be well represented in Fargo, as we have 5-6 of our own Senators that will be traveling north. Meanwhile, I hope to see the rest of you at the Missouri JCI Senate Meeting next Saturday in Columbia MO. We are meeting at the Best Western Columbia Inn beginning at 10:30 am 9-29-2007, in the Rose room! The theme the Boonville Jaycees have chosen for the Meeting is "Hats Off"; so we are encouraging each of you to wear some type of hat!! Be creative, I know the Board is. We will have a lot of items on the agenda, so make plans to be at the meeting!!!! Dress code will be Black Shirts for the Meeting, with HATS!! Tuxes/Suits with Purple for the Guys and nice dresses for the Ladies at the Banquet! One of the new ideas that we have is to purchase T-Shirts to wear when we work projects or activities. Here is the info on them: They will be "Athletic Gold" with Black print (MU colors). Says Missouri JCI Senate with Logo on front and Returns the Favor on the back. 50/50 blend cotton polyester! Shirts are priced $10 each sizes Small through 3X, $12 for 4X. Get your order to DeWayne Cartee #62218 BEFORE 10-5-2007. He will be taking orders at the meeting Saturday. Hope to see everyone in Columbia!!! Gather the children around, feed and water the pets and put them outside, turn the phones to voice mail, TVs to silent it's time for a message from your President... ME! So how is your summer going? Are you enjoying quiet walks with that special someone in the park on the cool evenings? Had a nice picnic lately? Taken a bike ride? Played an extra round of golf? You know, done the things that make summer so special? Good... I am happy to hear you each are having a nice comfortable enjoyable summer, cause... I NEED YOU MAN! Actually, we NEED you! The Missouri JCI Senate NEEDS you! Several of you asked "What can I do for you" when I was elected your President, so now I am letting ya know. ;) We need help and we need it now! What do we need you ask??? Well how about helping us work the Food Booth for a great Return The Favor opportunity at the upcoming Jefferson City Jaycees Fair July 30 through August 4th? Any shift can use extra help. What's that you say? You are already helping? WOW that's super!! Can you help and work an extra shift??? This project requires a lot of manpower and it is so much more fun when we have plenty of smiling Missouri JCI Senator faces. And as a team, we are enjoying the evening amongst friends, so please find that extra hour or three or four and give what time you can. Contact Dave DeLaney #41203 or Dennis "Kramit" Kramer #61560 and let em know you are coming, and "Tell 'Em The President Sent Ya!" STOP!!!! Don't go turn the TV back up, I have one more big favor to ask each of you. Can you come and give us a little help in St Louis August 3-5 at Strassenfest? Again, it's the same plea as for Jefferson City, we need you, and we really need you! Contact Ed Hart #28991 and he will be very happy to hear your commitment! As many of you know, these two projects are the main bread and butter income projects for the Missouri JCI Senate, so the importance of the year very much hangs in the balance of the success of these events. Plus you don't want to miss being around the best Senators anywhere, so come help us out and enjoy some good OLE Missouri JCI Senate Fellowship! Have a great week and I will see you all starting Monday in Jefferson City!!!
